Editorial Policy & How We Research
Last updated November 2, 2026
Car insurance decisions involve money and the law, so accuracy comes first on CarPolicyIQ.
Sources we use
- State insurance departments and DMVs (.gov sites)
- State laws and official regulations
- The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC)
- The Insurance Information Institute (III), IIHS and NHTSA
- Insurers’ own official policy pages
- Large published studies, always named and dated
How an article is made
- We start from a real question drivers search for.
- A draft is prepared (we use AI tools to help with drafting and structure).
- Every number, price, deadline and legal rule is checked against an official or named source and linked in the article’s Sources list.
- Anything we can’t verify is removed.
- The article shows the date it was last updated.
Updates and corrections
Laws and prices change. We review state guides at least every six months and update other articles when rules change. If you find a mistake, please tell us and we will check and correct it.
Independence
We are not paid by insurers to mention them. Ads are served automatically by Google and are clearly separate from our content.
